One Sunday afternoon in August, Jay and I left the safety of our homes and headed for France with the aim of cycling from Dieppe on the north coast, to somewhere on the south coast which looked nice and had a bar. We stopped off at Paris and Lyon where we met up with Thilo, and hit the sea near Toulon. We carried on round the coast until we got to St Raphaël and where the train and Nice night life were more tempting than saddle sore and fatigue. After a few nights there we took a train to Genoa, and then a ferry to Sardinia to meet up with Simon and spend a week relaxing with purely automotive transport. The "To Paris" and "To Lyon" sections are not particularly accurate but it was hard to distinguish one landscape photo from another when we got home :-)

In March 2006, I went along to the Lateral ski trip as I have done for several years. I decided to cycle there in order to try out my French language skills after taking night classes, and to try and get fit.
